Getting an e-check from your bank is easy, and you can find instructions on how to write a cheque online at most financial institutions. First, you should always check your check's value, and don't forget to write the date. You should include both the dollar amount and cents, and you must put the dollar amount in words. You can also put the cents in numerical format, but you should avoid using the comma sign.

Next, you need to write the name of the payee. The name of the payee is written on the "pay to the order of" line. The name must be in the right spelling. The payee can be an individual, a company, a charitable trust, or any other organization. Do not write "cash" in this line. This can lead to fraud. Instead, write the name of the payee.

You should include a short description of the payment in the memo section. The reason for this is to make sure your accountant will understand why you wrote the check. You should sign the cheque, and include the amount you owe. This will prevent any misunderstanding later on. In the case of a void check, you should include the number that is printed. In the memo section, you can write the amount in words.
